A few weeks ago we wrote about the late Scottish-born Canadian animator and film maker Norman McLaren and our distant relationship with him. We took the opportunity to do because of the Synchromy single/animated footage which appeared. 

It was one of those innovative pieces where McLaren drew the sounds on card and filmed them as . . .

What we didn't know at the time was that the single was from this quirky, weird, charming and funny album which collects some of his compositions along with a bunch of unreleased pieces.

Included is his famous Neighbours although that is best appreciated with his film.

The final piece is Opening Speech which is a strange cut-up, sound collage which as with everything else proves with wry McLaren was way ahead of his time.
